Born in Sytyvkar, Russia, Roman Vassiliev was born in 1979. Roman did his studies of Dance at the Ballet School of Perm (Vaganova), Russia, and at the ballet school in Hamburg, Germany. His talent as a dancer was recognized early in several international competitions, namely in the 24th Prix de Lausanne, Switzerland (3rd prize) and the International Competition in Varna, Bulgaria (3rd prize). During his career as a dancer, Roman joined the Leipzig Ballet, Staatsoper Hannover Ballet and Royal Ballet of Flanders ballet dancers. At the invitation of director Nehmet Balkan, in 2003 he joined the cast of Companhia Nacional de Ballet. Roman stood out in the ballets The Lady of the Camellias, Lake of the Swans, A dream of a Midsummer Night, Nutcracker and Romeo & Juliet. She also integrated in her repertoire the ballet The Seven Silences of Salomé and 13 Gestures, by Olga Roriz. Roman finished his career at the company Victor Ullate in Madrid, being considered in Spain one of the best dancers at European level. In 2009 she founded, along with Sara Schürmann, the Professional School of Ballet School of Porto with the intention of forming professional dancers.
